The Manopoulos SK4BLU is an impressive chess set inspired by the rich symbolism of Greek mythology. With a 34x34 cm board in a deep blue color and metal pieces in gold and silver, this model combines historical themes and aesthetic splendor.

The longest-lasting empire of all time existed and ruled the eastern part of Europe for more than 1000 years. The Orthodox continuation of the Roman Empire, known as the Byzantine Empire, expanded significantly with victorious crusades to the East and West. Their culture was shaped by Greek civilization and their language was Greek. The Byzantines also preserved and copied classical manuscripts and are therefore considered to be the bearers of classical knowledge.

The chess pieces are inspired by the royal family of the Macedonians, one of the greatest dynasties of the Byzantine Empire. This dynasty includes some of the most capable emperors in Byzantine history such as Basil I "Macedonian" (king) and Leo VI, called "the Wise" or Philosopher (knight). The period is one of revival.
